Armagnac is a highly aromatic brandy from the Gascony regions of France. Armagnac was France's first brandy and is believed to date from as far back as the 16th C. It ages very well and, after 25 years, it offers oak barrel fragrances and its length on the palate becomes truly remarkable. There are those who say that during the Nazi occupation of France, the collection of Armagnac was depleted by 1945. It took a couple of years for the industry to recover. This bottle is labelled 1947 - that is the vintage year - and it was bottled 50 years later, in 1997! Not unusual in the history of this extraordinary brandy. So, if you were born in 1947 (give or take a decade or two), and you believe you are just coming into your prime, then this bottle of Armagnac is just what you need to celebrate!

The bench was made as a prop for the one-woman play "Miss Caledonia" at ArtSpring. It is autographed by the star Melody Johnson and is accompanied by an autographed programme for the play. "Miss Caledonia" told our Executive Director, Cicela Mansson, that a bench was needed for the play. The ArtSpring piano bench was offered. But Miss Caledonia said she needed to put a couple of nails into it. Cicela withdrew the offer and asked a volunteer to make Miss Caledonia a "rustic" cedar bench as a prop. This is the result.

This is the bar stool to trump all bar stools! The story goes that our very own beloved Salt Spring personality and renowned author, Arthur Black, was one day contemplating this eclectic bar stool. Not one to ignore a potential "story", and perhaps thumbing his nose at technology, he decided to autograph the seat. But, not with his name. Instead, this unique, one-of-a-kind, highly unusual stool seat has been autographed not with a signature but with a hand painted "Selfie". Who could resist the opportunity to have a "seat" with Arthur Black!

Coupled with the calendar is the beautiful coffee table book, "Salt Spring: the people, the place", featuring the photography of Howard Fry, Michael Levy and Osman Phillips with a forward written by Arthur Black.
